How It Works

The process is handled by two experienced and well trained operators. The machinery is equipped with digital control panels and is operated by one operator to launch the drill rod into the surface. Meanwhile, the locator with the directional guidance tracker coordinates with the machine operator to guide and steer the drill rod along a predetermined route as it bores underground to the required distance.

At the end of the bore, a back reaming tool is attached to the drill rod and pulled back together with the materials to be installed, e.g. pipes, cables and conduits. This is a high quality system of accurate, controlled boring allowing precise guidance of the drilling operation to avoid pre-located underground obstacles and existing services.

Advantages

v     Clean trenchless solution for underground installations without disturbing the surface

v     Savings in reinstatement costs and eliminates disruption to traffic.

v     Ideal for sites sensitive to surface disruptions like golf courses, airport runways, busy traffic intersections, difficult site conditions and environmentally hazardous areas.

v     Faster and neater, usually requiring less than half the time needed by trenching.

v     Removes possibility of trenching-related accidents and pedestrian inconvenience.
